Director, Bioanalytical and DMPK

DTx Pharma, Inc. is a privately-held biotechnology company creating novel RNA-based therapeutics to treat the genetic drivers of disease.  The company’s proprietary delivery technology platform utilizes fatty acids as targeting ligands to enable the delivery of oligonucleotide therapies to tissues and cell types throughout the body. In preclinical studies, DTx has demonstrated cellular uptake and broad activity of oligonucleotides in the retina, muscle, heart, neurons, T cells and many other specialized cell types. Based upon the novelty, IP position and data demonstrating the effectiveness of its proprietary fatty acid motifs, DTx has previously received investment, nondilutive funding and other forms of support from Eli Lilly, Eye CRO and the CMT Research Foundation (CMTRF) for its ocular and muscle programs and has received multiple grant awards from the NIH (NCATS, NIA), and the TPEP program of Alzheimer’s Association and Rainwater Charitable Trust to advance its efforts to treat CNS diseases.

DTx Pharma is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated scientist specializing in PK-ADME to build and oversee both internal and external bioanalytical/DMPK capabilities in support of research through clinical stage oligonucleotide therapeutics. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning and executing the overall strategy to meet all bioanalytical and DMPK needs
  • Establishing a network of external providers that can develop assays and analyze samples
  • Coordinating bioanalytical activities with external providers and development partners
  • Building internal capabilities as needed to support assay development and sample analysis
  • Recruiting, training, and managing personnel to support internal bioanalytical activities
  • Assessing new technologies and implementing them as appropriate
  • Assisting with the integration of bioanalytical data into regulatory submissions
  • Periodically communicating strategy and activities to senior management and Board of Directors
  • Representing DTx Pharma at key scientific conferences

Qualifications & Experience:

  • D. degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in pharma/biopharma specializing in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic evaluation of oligonucleotide therapeutics from research through IND-enabling studies
  • Previous experience with the extraction of oligonucleotides from a variety of biological matrices
  • Previous experience with assay development (e.g. LC-MS, HELISA) for oligonucleotide quantitation
  • Previous experience with oligonucleotide stability profiling and metabolite identification
  • Previous experience with the operation of HPLC and LCMS systems
  • Previous experience working with CROs
  • Previous experience with PK/PD modeling and allometric scaling
  • Previous experience managing direct reports is a plus
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and experience in communicating with both internal and external audiences
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work as a team player in a dynamic environment

Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist, Oligonucleotide Chemistry

DTx Pharma is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated analytical chemist to support research and preclinical activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Synthesis and purification of oligonucleotides from milligram to gram scale to support research and preclinical programs
  • Synthesis and purification of oligonucleotide conjugates using proprietary chemistries and ligands
  • Method development and process optimization for efficient synthesis of oligonucleotide conjugates
  • Annealing of oligonucleotides for the preparation of double-stranded compounds
  • Operation and maintenance of oligonucleotide synthesis and purification equipment
  • Procurement of reagents and materials for oligonucleotide synthesis and purification
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the chemistry and biology teams

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in chemistry or biochemistry with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. degree in chemistry or biochemistry with 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience with AKTA Oligopilot and/or MerMade oligonucleotide synthesis platforms
  • Previous experience with oligonucleotide conjugation chemistry
  • Previous experience with analytical techniques for oligonucleotides is a plus
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team player in a dynamic environment

  • Formulating compounds for both internal use and for shipment to external partners
  • Maintaining analytical lab and instrumentation
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the chemistry and biology teams

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in chemistry or biochemistry with 2-5 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience with HPLC or LCMS and other relevant analytical methodologies
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills

In Vitro In Vivo Scientist

DTx Pharma Inc. is an RNA medicines company founded in 2017 and located in San Diego, CA.  We are seeking highly motivated scientist(s) with experience in in vitroand/or in vivo pharmacology.  The successful candidate will be a critical player in our efforts to break open new therapeutic areas for RNA medicines.

Responsibilities:

  • Assay development (Target engagement, PK)
  • Characterization of hit/lead candidates in vitro and in vivo.
  • Animal model characterization.

Requirements:

  • MS or PhD with 3-5 years of experience post graduation, preferentially in a biotech or pharmaceutical company (but, not required).  Exceptional candidates with a BS degree will be considered.
  • Experience developing and executing in vitro assays (cell culture, transfection, qPCR, ELISA/Mesoscale, western etc.)
  • In vivo experience (dosing, model development and characterization etc.)
  • Knowledge of computer software and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism)
  • Ability to work well in collaborative fast-paced team environment
